I am 55 and have been running long distances for almost all my life. (Approx 40 marathons, 2 ultras) Within the last year,my knees are starting to ache around 10-11 miles and then become too painful to run. The pain originates on the inside of my knee and it they frequently "go out" and I have to be really careful not to fall. I haven't been to a dr yet, but I haven't found a good "running" dr in my area and I don't want to automatically have knee surgery. Does this sound familiar to anyone??

Hi Karen, sorry to hear about your knee problems. I think the only way to work out what is going on is to get a proper medical diagnosis. Most issues can be sorted out conservatively (ie without surgery) but you do really need a proper diagnosis.
