I am currently running a 15k series culminating in a 50k in 5 months. How many miles per week should I be running or how is that determined?

Thanks for the question Troy. Phil Mafffetone specifically doesn't have any training plans or distance recommendations. It does seem though that a lot of people see real benefits when they MAF train for at least 7 hours per week.
When training for a race, what quite a few runners do is to take a time based training plan and just run it at their MAF heart rate. If you are training for a 50km, chances are that a lot of your runs will be in your MAF range anyway. Good luck!
