Im 72, running 4hr marathons. Ran my first marathon at 63. Started running to lose weight. But no its not the weight, its the fitness level that is big gain from running. I have run around 14 Marathons including Boston and New york and countless half marathons.
My Tip is keep at it and be consistant. Your body will adapt to the new regime you are putting it through.
When I joined a running club at age 60, I was running at the back of the pack and almost gave up the idea after a few weeks. Keep at it. Be with positive and encouraging people. Im feeling great and feel I have a few more Marathons in me. I'm the oldest runner in my club and run with mixed age groups. Makes me feel good when I am running with the fastest and I feel great as Play with my 4 little grand kids.
